P-38J Lightning, Tail No. 44-23314 “23 Skidoo”

One of my favorite airframes ever, the twin-boomed P-38 saw a lot of success in the Pacific Theater of Operations during the Second World War, and was the aircraft of America’s top aces. This particular aircraft entered into service too late to see action, and it was assigned to training squadrons after the war. It’s one of fewer than a dozen airworthy airframes still around today and belongs to the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA.
