Rocketdyne J-2 engine from S-II stage of the Saturn V rocket, the most powerful rocket ever built. The S-II stage featured five J-2 liquid-fueled engines strapped to 340,000 gallons of LH2/LOX. Most folks don’t realize that each rocket stage was built by a different contractor, and the S-II stage was built by North American Aviation just down the road in Seal Beach, CA. It was capable of 1.1 million lb/f of thrust. Picture was taken at the Saturn V center at Kennedy Space Center.
