Austin, NV, looking down into the valley below and Mt Augusta in the distance. County Seat of Lander County, it was founded during the Silver Rush of 1862 purportedly when riders from the Pony Express kicked over some rocks nearby and saw silver. Today, it’s considered a living ghost town with the best remaining examples of still-active frontier churches.
